Almost all of us are familiar with the word stress and what it can possibly bring when not managed. Regardless of what your status, financial standing, nationality or age you will encounter stress from time to time and with the current financial crisis, more and more people are finding themselves in stressful situations. We all of course have different needs and methods when it comes to relieving stress. Some spend time for themselves, while others try to rearrange their busy schedules in order to eliminate some of their stressors.

There is another method that can probably help you in dealing with stress; hypnosis. But contrary to what might pop up in your mind, the self hypnosis we are talking about does not require any swinging object to follow or any other tool for that matter. To give you a clearer idea as to what hypnosis relaxation techniques are, here are a few examples:

Imagery: You might already have an idea as to what imagery is. The idea behind imagery is to use your imagination to recreate or create for that matter a place that you find relaxing. Be it an ocean scenery or a field of flowers, by putting your whole concentration on what you are imagining you will slowly start to feel your stress ebb away. If you want, you can also employ breathing techniques to go along with imagery in order to have faster and greater results. This is a mild form of self hypnosis that beginners will find especially helpful in handling stress.

Self hypnosis: As the name implies self hypnosis is when you hypnotize yourself in order to achieve a deep sense of relaxation. But self hypnosis is in no way an easy feat to accomplish. Before you start self-hypnosis you will need to use affirmations (positive statements based on rational thing that you make yourself in order to counter stress, negative thoughts, and reinforce skills), a quiet room free of any outside disturbances and a deep concentration.

Self hypnosis exercises can usually last anywhere between 15-30 minutes but can be extended depending on your need and preference. It is a practical way to achieve relaxation without having to use any special tools. For beginners you can also download hypnosis mp3′s for a one time fee. These can have the same effects as self hypnosis bringing about the same deep sense of relaxation.

Hypnosis is an extremely versatile tool that you will be able to use for almost anything. From managing simple stressors up to more complicated ones. You can also go to a trained hypnotherapist if you are really having trouble starting it yourself. What’s important is that you take action before stress starts to really wreak havoc to your professional and personal life.

As in most parts of life, relaxation is the key to many successes. If a person is able and capable of relaxing you’ll find problems and issues are dealt with more easily. Stress and anxiety is the enemy, and hinders progress. In order for anyone to be hypnotized they must first be comfortable and relaxed. There are many different types of relaxation, and learning to relax tactics. In the first steps to learning how to relax effectively, you have to individualize each part of your body and discern how to relax them on their own. The simple fact is that everyone could use a little stress relief and relaxation. Techniques used by hypnotists are unlike any other, especially when attempting to be hypnotized. Hypnosis relaxation is not only beneficial for hypnosis, but for day to day life it can provide some reprieve. While there are multiple resources for learning hypnosis relaxation, the best way to learn is from a Hypnotist.

Peace and Quiet

Distractions play a major role in finding and maintaining a quiet and calm environment. The key to becoming more relaxed is being able to eliminate your distractions, such as telephone, television, traffic, adverse weather through the windows…etc. If you are unable to find this paradise, you may want to try some noise reduction headphones or earplugs. Make an attempt to completely ease your position by at least sitting down in a comfortable chair, or even lying down in a quiet place. Now with no distractions and a comfortable position, begin to clear your mind. For some this task will be most difficult, and require a lot of effort.

Try to wipe your mind clear of thought, if you can’t then imagine a serene place, like waves on a secluded beach, a warm crackling fireplace, or a soft breeze across a field of grass. Once you’ve managed to find your “happy place”, you can begin to talk yourself down. You can be systematic about the whole thing, start at your toes and work your way up. Be as specific as you feel you need to be to itemize each piece of tense muscle you can find. The important thing to remember is, focus on each body part and relax it. After you’ve moved across your entire body you should find yourself in a complete state of relaxation.

This technique is used by hypnotists to ensure you are relaxed enough to be hypnotized, and help melt away any stress and anxiety you may be harboring. If you find it doesn’t work the first time completely, return to your peace and quiet and go over the process again. Eventually you will become so efficient at hypnosis relaxation, you will be able to accomplish it in a matter seconds, until your stress has disappeared.

Natural Remedies For Stress

You will need to treat your body better whenever you are under a lot of stress. Fortunately, you can use natural remedies for stress in the form of vitamins and supplements to help you through these times. Too much stress can cause you to feel overloaded. You begin to feel the effects of poor health when you do not eat or sleep properly due to stress and your immune system becomes low.

There is no way that you can totally avoid stress, especially if you are leading a modern lifestyle. It is therefore important that you learn to cope with stress and view challenges positively. Through diet, you can make sure that you have an adequate supply of nutrients because there are certain things that the body needs in order to deal with the overload.

Natural remedies for stress include:

1. Vitamin C. You may be surprised to hear that the best place to get Vitamin C from is potatoes. Natural remedies that are rich in Vitamin C include the skins of baked potatoes, raw green cabbage, cantaloupe, strawberries and citrus fruits such as oranges.

2. Calcium. This mineral helps to regulate the heart’s rhythm, contractions of your muscles and nerve impulse transmission. Whenever the body is working hard to fight stress, it will lose more calcium than usual. Some of the sources for this natural remedy come from dairy products, tou fu, almonds and broccoli.

3. Magnesium. Besides helping you to manage your stress level, it can also keep you from getting muscle spasms. Some of the best sources of magnesium are found in green vegetables such as spinach, nuts like almonds, as well as seeds.

4. Omega-3 fatty acids. These not only help you manage your stress but they also reduce your risk of developing coronary heart disease, one of the more severe condition that you can develop from too much stress. Natural sources of omega-3 fatty acids can be found in salmon, tuna, flaxseed oil herring, mackerel, and walnuts. Since canned tuna does contain some levels of mercury, you must only consume it in moderation.

If you find that you are not able to eat well through a normal diet during this period, consider taking the above natural remedies for stress in the form of supplements. While it is better to obtain these vitamins from natural sources, not even having them is worse. Also, make sure that you choose good quality supplements. You want to give your body the proper nourishment while you overcome your stress!

How to Increase Your Charisma and Confidence

One of the hurdles public speakers will have to climb has to do with raising their confidence level to an acceptable standard. This is more like begging the question really, as no one will be interested in a message you are not convinced of so this makes exhibiting a great measure of confidence of the utmost importance. So the next question is how do you go about increasing your confidence and passing yourself off as believable? Confidence without charisma is like a slice of bread eaten as is, without any supplement say butter or jam. While tasty as an independent food substance, it tastes better when eaten with something else. This same symbiotic relationship exists between charisma and confidence.

A charismatic speaker is a much better option than a dull, uninspiring one any day, this goes to underscore the importance of charisma in speechmaking. It is that ability to attract others and cause them to have confidence in you and your message. Most people buy on emotions rather than logic so if the messenger does not captivate them how can they possibly accept the message.

There are no hard and fast rules to becoming more confident and personally, I do not believe in the fact that you have to stand before a mirror to deliver all your lines to have an idea of how well you fare. What I feel is important is to have someone who is willing to give you honest feedback listen to your for about 2 minutes or so, this person will be your pseudo audience. This will help you to get honest feedback before encountering your real audience. Based on the feedback received you can work on yourself to bring your strengths to bear on your presentation and minimise your weaknesses.

One of the techniques employed by great speakers in a bid to be more charismatic is to develop a likable personality. It reminds me of what my friend, Damilola Oluwatoyinbo, one of Nigeria’s up and coming public speakers once said about charisma in public speaking, “People do not want be reminded of their school teacher or lecturer complete with cane in hand”. The idea behind that simple statement was simply to develop a more likable personality in other words every successful speaker must learn to be more personable if he or she wants to be charismatic and attract people like a magnet.

You can learn and harness virtually every skill; the same applies to charisma and confidence. When you get an opportunity to interact with people you meet on a personal basis, a simple act like stretching out your hand with a smile on your face and introducing yourself might just do the trick. You can practise this simple technique as often as possible and the good part is that it is free. Remember the important thing is to enhance your charisma and confidence.

Confidence and charisma are two attributes of great speakers you want to be associated with and you will do well to have them to add value to your presentations.
