How to Be More Awake and Relaxed With Deliberate Yawning

Yawning appears to have an entirely different function than previously believed. Rather than signaling that we are tired, yawning also starts other processes in our brain; It helps cool the brain, keeping us awake, refreshed and relaxed.
This is still just the tip of the iceberg! Yawning also turns out to be a great brain exercise.
Here are 12 reasons to yawn:
- Stimulates alertness and concentration
- optimize brain activity and metabolism
- Improves cognitive function
- Improve your memory
- Improve awareness and understanding
- Reduce stress
- The body becomes more relaxed
- Improves voluntary muscle control
- Improves athletic skills
- Fine-tune your sense of time
- Increases empathy and social awareness
- Improves the joy and sensuality
Some researchers even claim that yawning will make you relax and bring you into a state of clarity faster than any other meditation technique.
Studies of the brain shows that yawning activates a part of the brain called the precuneus. According to researchers, it turns out that the precuneus among other things, plays a central role in consciousness, self-reflection, and improved memory. Physiologically yawning cools the brain and allows it to function better.

Why is yawning contagious?
The researchers believe that the social yawn has to do with protection, yawning makes us alert and aware of danger-signs in the environment. Ironically, studies show that you are not “infected” when breathing through the nose.
Unlike when we breathe through the mouth, breathing trough the nose contributes to a constant inflow of cool air. If you cool the head with something cold, you are probably not at risk. Those subjects who were asked to keep a cool bag on the head was not affected to yawn.
The process of yawning activates multiple neuro-chemical substances, including dopamine, which sets in motion a chain of reaction of other neurochemical substances. The result is that areas of the brain that contribute to improved memory, conscious control, temperature control, joy, sensuality and social activities, is activated.
Conscious yawning
It is difficult to find another activity that has so positive effects on the brain that yawning has in so many ways. Conscious yawning may require some training and discipline. But all you need to do to trigger it; is to “pretend” 6 or 7 times, it is very easy.
So, what are you waiting for? Yawn away with a good conscience and make it a habit even if you actually don’t want to yawn. This way you can treat your brain a little miracle every day.
Learn meditation, find enlightenment. Mindfulness is a type of meditation that essentially involves focusing on your mind in the present. To be mindful is to be aware of your thoughts and actions in the present, without judging yourself. Research suggests that mindfulness meditation may improve mood, decrease stress, and boost immune function. Meditation makes you happy and healthy, and is completely free.

There are days when even though everything is going right for you, you feel emotionally exhausted. You are depressed and feel as if something is lacking in your life but you’re unable to figure it out. This is because you lack positive energy.
We are what we believe. A slight change in your perception can make or break your life. A glass half filled with water can be perceived as half-empty or half full. A positive person always think positive even in adverse situations where as a negative person always feel dejected even when everything is going great for him.
Causes of Lack of Positive Energy
- Inadequate sleep
- Stress
- Fatigue
- Depression
- Hypothyroidism
- Nutritional deficiencies
- Poor self-care
Tips to bring in Positive Energy in your Life
- Find out what is draining energy from you; is it your marriage or your profession or is it your children. Find out the cause and try to work out a solution.
- Be organized and learn time management skills. Prioritize your life and make utmost use of your time. Otherwise, at the end of the day you will feel overworked and over scheduled.
- Enjoy everything you do, be it watching movies, cooking or gardening. Never consider it as a chore as it would make the activity boring. Consider it as something that gives you immense happiness. when you love whatever you do, you feel happy and relaxed.
- Never forget about yourself. Spent some quality time to pamper yourself. Watch TV, read books, or go for a long drive; do something that is close to your heart.
- Get at least 7-8 hours of sleep and make that a routine. Adequate sleep not only brings back appetite but also positive energy.
- Take breaks and indulge in something that relaxes you completely be it meditation, yoga, cooking, reading or listening to music.
- Never overvalue momentary pleasures as it is worth nothing.
- If the lack of positive energy in you is due to any medical condition then take treatments for that. For instance, sufferers of hypothyroidism feel reduced emotional and physical energy. In such a situation take low thyroid supplements to get symptomatic relief.
- Eat a balanced diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids. Drink plenty of water and exercise regularly.
- Live and let live. Be honest and kind.

Basically, a positive attitude towards life is what that gets us going. Without positive energy, life would seem/be meaningless. Life is not a bed of roses but if you have positive energy then you can definitely make yours one of roses.

Positive Self Confidence – In Seven Simple Steps!

Some people seem to be born full of confidence – you know the type; they stride into rooms expecting people to look at them and if they don’t get any attention, they’re not relieved – they’re disappointed!
Sure, for some people, this attitude comes naturally, but you can be just as sure there are plenty of others faking it!
So how do they do it? How can you do it too? Read on for seven effective steps to instant self-confidence!
1) Posture
It’s all in the strut! Take smooth, positive steps and walk steadily; never rush. Hold your head up and keep your back straight – bet your parents told you do that in school! Well, they were right – concentrate on practising your new posture and you’ll soon be walking tall!
2) Be Aware
This is very important – sometimes we are so concerned about how we are being perceived that we don’t take any notice of the people around us. But if you focus and take the time when you next have to walk into that dreaded room full of strangers, you’ll notice that they probably aren’t all staring and desperate to find fault with you! And if you focus on them, you’re a lot less likely to be worrying about yourself!
3) Eye Contact
Okay, so you know this one already right? But do you know why it’s so essential?

Maintaining eye contact with anyone you meet is essential; humans are able to interact in many ways other than verbally, and making eye contact is one of the most important tools we have to communicate. Subconsciously we often judge those we meet in this way and distrust people who won’t meet our gaze. You will appear to strangers as honest and, more importantly, to have a more positive self confidence if you can make eye contact and hold it. (Be careful not to stare though!) Just remember this trait is restricted to humans; don’t try it with your neighbors dog as canines perceive direct eye contact as a threat!
4) You’re The Next Top Model!
Maybe that’s a slight exaggeration, but never underestimate the importance of looking your absolute best. Lack of self-confidence can often result from dissatisfaction with the way you look and feel. Have you been wearing the same brand of jeans for the last ten years? Or even the very same pair? The same make-up? And hairstyle? Always buy the same style of shoes?
Take a good hard look at yourself and be honest with what you see. Do you feel a million dollars in that shirt?
It could even be worth investing in a stylist who will help you find the style that really suits you best – a good investment for your long-term future as a confident new person! If thats out of the question then ask a close friend how they think you look. But be sure to ask an honest friend!
5) Do Something That You Fear
I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t have a fear or phobia of some kind. And not always the sort of things you’d imagine! Flying, heights, thunderstorms…these are common fears that can make the hardiest of us want to crawl into a hole. These can be quite rational, if unfounded fears, but some people are scared of the strangest things – I have a friend with an outright dread of sponges!
But whatever you’re frightened of, if you can summon the strength to tackle your fear your confidence will get an immediate kick. Imagine exactly how proud you will feel as you step off that flight, or walk across the highest bridge you can find – believe me, it’s a powerful instant confidence booster.
6) If You Just Smile…
This is a simple one – but extremely effective! Smile at a stranger every day; you could even throw in a ‘good morning’ if you feel like it! Such a simple strategy can work wonders for your confidence. And if you get ignored, just accept that the stranger has less positive self confidence than you. Go and try the next person!
7) Honesty – Is It Really The Best Policy?
If you’re less than honest with people, it’s going to blow your cover straight away. You may have all your weapons in your confidence armoury but if you are struggling to be truthful it’s going to be obvious straightaway. So yes, honesty really is the best policy. Of course, that can be easier said than done, so prepare yourself with some worked out answers for those tricky questions that can throw you off your stride.
Follow these seven steps and I’m absolutely certain that very soon you will look around and realise you’re not ‘faking it’ anymore – you really will have a new positive self confidence!

Have you ever sat around thinking of all the things we should be doing, for our bodies like eating Healthy, good Vitamins, Exercising, and yoga which ever your passion is – or all. Putting ourselves first should be a priority. So that we have the energy to take care of our Families. To take on each Day as no other how can we do that with so little time? Our days are hectic just getting our children ready and heading out the door for work, working all day, getting dinner or kids activities’ or both. We are exhausted forget all about us, who has the time?
With the economy so bad and fuel prices so high we have to cut back on everything we need to do for ourselves like going to the gym in which we feel guilty about anyway for taking time away from family more guilt which is unhealthy. Our clothes are too tight or don’t fit, then we get depressed it’s a vicious cycle to get caught up in. We need to stop and rethink what we could do.
We could find great quality and affordable pieces of exercise equipment for home use that the whole family could use and be together and save on expenses in the long run by not paying the gym fees and fuel. If we could change would it be to work harder or to take better care of ourselves. Take time for me – if you do everyone around you is happier. If we just sit back and wait then we lose control. Don’t you hate when that happens?

Sometimes I read to forget my day I love to read but it stops me from taking care of myself and I hate that. If we could just have a positive state of mind we can push ourselves to do the right thing. Reading doesn’t burn calories, we need to get off our butts and do it, we can talk or we can do it. If life still throws you curves we will be able to handle them better.
1: Make sure you check with your Doctor First
2: Take Good Vitamins and supplements such as D, Fish Oil, Fiber and multi vitamins
3: Take time for our self every day
4: Drink plenty of water and eat plenty fruits and veggies
5: Exercise every day for 30 min.
6: Live Happy and stress FREE

Is Reiki Therapy For You?

Nancy awakened after surgery with excruciating pain. Her nurse, Sarah had already given her the maximum dose of morphine. Sarah asked if she would like to try Reiki therapy. Nancy said, “Yes, I’ll try anything.”
Nancy feels the warmth of Sarah’s hands as she places them gently over her eyes. Sarah continues to move her hands to different locations on her body, pausing for 3 to 5 minutes in each location. When the treatment is over, Nancy still has some pain, but it’s much less. She feels relaxed and peaceful.
Nancy’s experience is but one of a growing number of people turning to Reiki for healing. Their experiences vary, some experience the Reiki hands as soothing, some feel warmth, and some feel nothing.
A growing number of hospitals offer Reiki as a complement to other therapies. Reiki practitioners provide therapy in many settings both privately and through group sessions where participants learn Reiki practice (for themselves and others).
What is Reiki Therapy?
The word “Reiki” combines two Japanese words: “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” meaning life energy. Its practitioners act as conduits to primordial consciousness (also called Reiki) while placing their hands lightly on or just above the person receiving treatment.

Reiki practice originated from the spiritual teachings of Mikao Usui in Japan during the early 20th century. Its goal is to facilitate the person’s own healing. It is a part of alternative and complimentary medicine, according to the National Institutes of Health’s Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
Reiki helps return balanced functioning at every level of being… physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and social. It reduces stress and relieves pain and anxiety. “Recipients commonly report improved sleep and digestion, and a greater sense of well-being. Other benefits, such as feeling more motivated, less depressed, or experiencing relief from side effects of medications, radiation, or chemotherapy vary from person to person,” reports its leading US proponent, Pamela Miles in Reiki A Comprehensive Guide.
How Do You Become a Reiki Practitioner?
Anyone can become a Reiki practitioner by attending classes taught by a qualified Reiki master. Although used by nurses, doctors, and other health providers, it does not require a degree or healthcare background.
During the classes, the Reiki master provides Reiki initiation, guidance, and supervised practice for students.
Initiation creates alignment of the student’s energy field (the subtle field that surrounds and permeates the body) with the unlimited primordial consciousness (or energy). “The initiations enable the Reiki student to carry Reiki potential in her hands that can activate spontaneously according to the need of anyone she touches, herself, or another,” says Miles.
There are three types of Reiki practice: first degree, second degree, and master. First degree prepares the student for Reiki practice. Second degree prepares the Reiki practitioner to perform distant Reiki healing. Becoming a Reiki master prepares a Reiki practitioner to teach.
Is Reiki Safe?
Reiki has no side effects. “It can only help, it can never hurt,” says Miles. You can’t “overdose” on Reiki.
Unlike energy healing methods such as Therapeutic Touch and Healing Touch where practitioners direct energy and treat imbalances based on assessment findings, Reiki practitioners act solely as conduits for Reiki.
The flow of Reiki and how it’s used are solely determined by the unique needs of the person receiving it. There is no conscious controlling or directing of the energy by the practitioner.
How Do You Choose a Reiki Practitioner?
Miles advises that education and experience are more important than the type of practitioner. A first degree Reiki practitioner can be more experienced in providing direct Reiki healing than a second degree practitioner or even a Reiki master.
Tips for finding a practitioner:
- Ask your doctor, nurse, or other health professional for a referral.
- Check with holistic, complimentary, or integrative medicine providers. They may offer it themselves or know of a good practitioner.
- If in the hospital, simply ask for Reiki.
- Ask your friends. You may be surprised to find one of them provides Reiki or knows of someone who does.
- Check with the Reiki Alliance, a group of Reiki Masters, who offer referrals and information on Reiki.
Once you’ve identified practitioners, tell them what you’re looking for. Ask about their training and length of time practicing Reiki. Get a feel for who they are and why they are doing Reiki. Find out their charges, billing practices, and cancellation policy. Not only is this good information to know, it helps you get a sense of the person.
Chose a practitioner that meets your needs and you feel good about.
Summary
Reiki therapy offers spiritual healing. Your unique needs guide Reiki’s flow and use.
Choosing a Reiki practitioner based on their experience and your needs is more important than the type of practitioner (first degree or second degree or master).
Reiki therapy should not be a replacement for seeing a healthcare provider for a significant health problem, although, many people benefit by using Reiki along with medical procedures and treatments.
Reiki does not require your belief, only your willingness to experience it!
